Alliance For a Healthier Generation/World Wide Day of Play

Kids Take Charge
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a joint initiative of the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation, believes that the best way to make kids healthier is to help them take charge of their own health. We’ve partnered with Nickelodeon to spread the word about good health and motivate kids to join the Healthier
Generation movement.

Let’s Just Play Go Healthy Challenge
With Nickelodeon we’ve launched the Let's Just Play Go Healthy Challenge. Follow four kids on their quest to eat better, play harder and feel better. If you missed the television debut, watch it on Turbo Nick http://www.nick.com/turbonick/index.jhtml?videoid=43651.

Our Hosts: The Let's Just Play Go Healthy Challenge will be hosted by Devon
Werkheiser from “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide” and Miranda Cosgrove from “Drake & Josh.”

The Four Role Models: Over the next six months, we’ll follow these four kids as they strive to reach their goals:

  • Bianca - “Emerging Athlete”: Her mission is to find a fun way to get active.
  • Chris – “Activist”: He wants to make changes in his school and community so that everyone can have access to better foods and more physical activity.
  • Ayesha – “Health Warrior”: She wants to adopt a healthier lifestyle so that she can increase her energy level and transform her self-confidence.
  • Wes – “Barrier Breaker”: He is helping his family overcome the unhealthy habits that keep them all from enjoying a healthy and active lifestyle.

The Right Support: Along the way, these kids will have help from experts and supporters, including pediatricians, psychologists, nutritionists, exercise scientists, celebrities and youth leaders. Health plans will be developed for each kid to ensure they meet their goals in fun, safe and attainable ways. Similar materials will be available online for other kids who have joined the challenge.
